Welcome to Trackmasters Open Track Event at Watkins Glen International
Trackmasters Open Track events at Watkins Glen provide a premium track experience catered exclusively to advanced drivers: a minimum of 4-1/2 hours a day of open lapping a day, limited to 55 registrants. You'll get ample track time and countless clean laps. This registration page is strictly for Open Track: Novices, Intermediates, and instructors, please click here to register for our HPDE program.
Event Format
At Watkins Glen, our open track day consists of four, one-hour open lapping sessions and a fifth session of 30 to 60 minutes at the end of the day. Our on-track culture emphasizes situational awareness and predictability in addition to driving capability, with the expectation that no one need break their momentum unnecessarily. Passing is expected anywhere and everywhere on the track. A point-by is required in or near turns, and is optional in the straights. We work hard to ensure all event participants are up to the standards our customers expect in their peer group. Combine that with low track density and the result is one of the best customer satisfaction and best safety records in the business.
Advanced Coaching, If Desired
WGI has been Trackmasters’ home for 35+ years, and our Advanced Coaches know every inch of the track. Many have raced extensively and can turn best-in-class laps for their vehicle type. Upon request we provide a complimentary session with an Advanced Coach for data review or right seat coaching. This can help an Open Track driver find opportunities to turn a better lap with their specific vehicle.

Experience Required for Open Track
Our Open Track is for drivers at the top levels of high-performance driving, including:
- professional and amateur racers;
- certified DE instructors; and
- extremely experienced DE drivers.
To make it all work, we take Open Track qualification seriously to maintain the high-quality, on-track experience our long-time Open Track customers expect. Drivers new to Trackmasters can register for Open Track but may be contacted prior to the event to review previous experience. A checkout ride by one of our Advanced Coaches may also be required on event day. With this in mind, please make sure your driving history is current on MotorsportReg.com.

Event requirements
- All registered drivers must be 18 years old or older and must possess a valid state issued drivers license at time of driving event.
- All drivers must have a Snell rated helmet with an SA2020 or an SA 2025 rated helmet. Note that as of 2026, SA2015 helmets are no longer valid.
- All drivers must submit a completed TECH form attesting that their car meets minimum standards as per event requirements.
